It has started! Black Friday is past, the shopping lines are longer, it’s hard to find a parking space. The carols are played in the stores. Children are excited. “Tis the Season.”
My wife did a new arrangement on the living room fireplace mantle. It really looks good. Various shapes (kind of like trees), painted white, with three large letters (also painted white) spelling the word joy.
We sing Christmas carols about it. Christmas cards hope we have it. Christmas decorations boast it. Yet, so few people actually experience it.
Two thousand years ago, the angelic host announced that the news of Christ birth would bring GREAT JOY.
Luke 2:10 (KJV) And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
The pronouncement of this joy inspiring event was to ALL people. The fact is, the message delivered by the angel, has not died, but still brings joy.
Joy is a powerful force in our lives and the Christmas story brings joy.
Christmas is also for those who have been longing for a Savior. They may have been devout in their religious observance, but still understand that their only joy is for God to come to them. They have been waiting for God to show up. He has!
Luke 2:11 (KJV) For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
This Christmas may God fill each of you with JOY.
