One Person Can Make a Difference

When recently visiting my Mother, on a dresser top in one of the bedrooms, I noticed a notepad with the following printed on the cover:

One morning a man walked along a beach covered with thousands of starfish that had washed up during a storm.  Now they lay dying in the sun.

He saw a young girl picking up the starfish one by one and tossing them into the sea.

As he approached her he couldn’t help but ask “Why bother?  There are too many of them.  You won’t make much of a difference.”

She didn’t say a word, but picked up another starfish and tossed it into the water.

Then she turned to the man and said “I made a difference to that one.”

This made me wonder about the number of lost souls we pass every day and think “What’s the use?”  I also wonder how many people reading this are glad that someone came along, told them about Jesus, and it made a difference?

I now ask… are you the man, or the young girl?
