The Cross

When God left heaven for me
To die on an old rugged tree
He endured humiliation and shame
He was whispering my name
As He walked up Mount Calvary

He was saying I love you
I love you this much
You’re the reason I wrapped myself in flesh
You’re the reason I took on the form of a man
He was saying I love you
And You’re the reason I will die
To be the sacrifice so one day y can be by my side

He endured much shame as they beat him
A crown of thorn s they pushed down on his head
A spear was thrust in his side
And with his arms stretched open wide
He was saying I love you this much
