By What Power

The Book of Acts records a moment when Peter and John were being questioned. They were asked “by what power, or by what name, have ye done this?” What those asking the question didn’t realize was that it wasn’t by what power OR name. It was one and the same, the power is in the name. Power to save, heal, deliver. Power for miracles is through faith in the all-powerful name of Jesus.

The Bible tells us to “Glory in his holy name.” His name is holy and should never be misused or abused, yet, at the same time, we have been given that name to use.

Colossians 3:17 (KJV)
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Everything about our lives must be anchored in Him. In other words, if you can’t say or do it in the Name of Jesus, then you shouldn’t be doing it.

After all, the purpose of righteous living is to bring honor to Christ.

2 Thessalonians 1:12 (KJV)
12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
