A WORD FOR THE JOURNEY

Have you ever prayed for something only to become discouraged for one reason or another and then give up? Maybe years have passed since you first prayed about this or did the situation seem to get worse the more you prayed?

Matthew tells us of a woman, called the Syro-Phoenician woman. She was unwavering in finding Jesus. When she finally found Him, she petitioned the Lord to "cast out the demon out of her daughter." Unlike other times when Jesus was petitioned, Jesus totally ignored her. Yet, she kept asking. When He finally spoke, He told her that He was only sent to the lost sheep of Israel. This mother would not stop, she worshipped Him anyway.

He even insulted her and she refused to go away. Many would have lost heart and given up, but in her desperation she acknowledged that all that she needed was a few crumbs from the table. Jesus was amazed and said, "O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire." From that very hour, her daughter was healed.

Pushing through despite discouragement is a sign of great faith. Great faith is what produces great results. Be encouraged, prayer warrior and don't lose heart. Stay until God answers.
