"These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japeth." - Genesis 6 : 9 - 10
Noah was living in a generation much like ours today. Humanity was doing its own thing. Whatever they felt was right is what they did. But Noah, was intentional. Genesis 6:9 says that "he walked with God." This was a daily relationship that Noah had with God. The fruit of his life reflected that relationship.
That fruit: when he was called to build something that had never been built, and his sons didn't question it or mock it. They joined him. What he had taught his sons up to this point through his words and his actions were what drove his sons to follow into something that seemed crazy. There had never been rain before, but they believed that it was coming. There had never been a flood before, but they believed that it was coming. Why? Because God said it and their father believed it. Therefore, they believed it.
Fathers, it may seem like you're talking to a wall with your kids but trust a daughter when she says your actions speak. Hearing your father pray in the night for you, your family, and your church family, teaches you how to pray. Let your children hear you pray. Let them see you reading your Bible. Let them see you placing value on the things of God.
Your influence is powerful.
