Wait For It

A WORD FOR THE JOURNEY

Yesterday, I was talking with someone and they were telling about a birthday card that they sent to someone. They explained the card like this: You open the card and it says, "Wait for it." You turn the page and it says, "Wait for it". Turn the page and it says, "Wait for it." You turn the last page and it says, "Happy Birthday."

Wait is an uncertain word. Someone telling you to wait doesn't tell you "how long" or "when" the wait will be over. I've been told to wait in doctors' waiting rooms, in bank lines, at the grocery store and even at home.

Waiting can fell distressing. However, often we find ourselves waiting on the Lord. The Psalmist said, Psalms 27:14: Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

God has a bird's-eye view and His timing isn't just good...it's perfect. When we step ahead of Him, we always find trouble waiting on us. However, if we trust Hid guidance and His timing, He will lead us into His will.

Living within the will of God is the safest, best, and wisest place to be. We may not always get what we want, but no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly. (Psalms 84:11)
