Wiser Than Adults

In some ways children are far wiser than adults. At least children know that there are certain things that are absolutely true. Here is a list of truths about life that little children have learned and totally believe.

No matter how hard you try, you can’t baptize cats. – When your mom is mad at your dad, don’t let her brush your hair. – If your sister hits you, don’t hit her back; they always catch the second person. – Never ask your three-year old brother to hold a tomato. – You can’t trust dogs to watch your food. – Puppies still have bad breath, even after eating a tic- tac. – Never hold a dust buster and a cat at the same time. – You can’t hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk.

It would seem that adults are different. According to a 1992 Gallup poll, 72% of all adults agreed that: “There is no such thing as absolute truth.” Now compare that with the fact that in 1962 a Gallup poll revealed that 84% of adults did believe in the existence of absolute truth.

That’s why Jesus said, “Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.” (Luke 18.17) Jesus said, you cannot receive the kingdom except you do it as a child.

You cannot be in that 72%. Your faith in God must be “absolute”. Your experience with God, must be “absolute”. Your resolution to live for God, must be “absolute”. Absolute means your faith, your experience and your resolution must be unconditional and without compromise.
